ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Albrecht Dehmel studied chemistry in Munich (Germany) and earned a doctorate at the Cologne Institute of Genetics (Germany).
CAREER AS A PATENT ATTORNEY
Albrecht was admitted as a German and European Patent Attorney in 1994 and as a European Design and Trademark Attorney in 1996. He was one of the founding partners of Dehmel & Bettenhausen Patent- und Rechtsanwälte.
When it comes to issues of the protection of intellectual property, Albrecht advises and takes care of domestic and especially international clients. He is widely experienced in all aspects of national and international patent litigation. One of his specializations is opposition proceedings before the European Patent Office. Conducting and coordinating German, European and non-European patent applications and patent granting procedures is a second area of his activity.
Moreover, Albrecht is regularly involved in the drafting of patent infringement and validity opinions as part of freedom-to-operate (FTO) and due-diligence analyses. He is also regularly invited to act as an expert in court.
Albrecht is equally widely experienced in supplementary protection certificates (SPCs) and in coordinating relevant applications in Europe.
CAREER AS A LECTURER
Albrecht works as a lecturer for the further-education program “Examinatorium Europaeum” (Hagen IV) which prepares graduates for the European Qualifying Examination (EQE) at the Kurt Haertel Institute of Intellectual Property at the Distance-Learning University of Hagen (Germany) (www.fernuni-hagen.de/kurthaertel/europaeum.de).
