ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Hajo Peters studied biochemistry in Tübingen (Germany) and earned a doctorate at the Institut of Biochemistry in Tübingen (Germany).
CAREER AS A PATENT ATTORNEY
Hajo was admitted as a German Patent Attorney and European Design and Trademark Attorney in 1999 and as a European Patent Attorney in 2001. He also holds a degree from 2018 for patent litigation from the Université de Strasbourg (France).
Before joining Dehmel & Bettenhausen Hajo was Managing Director for Zacco in Germany as well as for another German Patentanwaltsgesellschaft, specialized in life science. He also worked in the pharma industry as the Director Research Patents at Laboratorios del Dr. Esteve, Barcelona (Spain) and as Deputy Head of the Patent Department at Grünenthal GmbH in Aachen (Germany).
When it comes to issues of the protection of intellectual property, Hajo advises and takes care of domestic and especially international clients. Conducting and coordinating German, European and non-European patent applications and patent granting procedures is a major area of his activity. One other specialization is opposition proceedings before the European Patent Office and he is also widely experienced in all aspects of national and international patent litigation.
Moreover, Hajo is regularly involved in the drafting of patent infringement and validity opinions as part of freedom-to-operate (FTO) and due-diligence analyses.
Hajo is also familiar with supplementary protection certificates (SPCs) and with coordinating relevant applications in Europe. He has also experience with similar international proceedings and registration processes including dealings with the „Orange Book“ and the FDA.
Finally, Hajo was recognized by his peers for „Best Lawyers©“ in Germany for 2021 in the field of Intellectual Property Law.
